Earnest, intimate, heartfelt, delicate: Andervel is the music project of singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist José Luis Anderson. Born in Mexico and formed in Iceland, Andervel has succeeded in creating a unique brand of folk seen through the lens of multicultural identity. Andervel's work is defined by a timeless, classically-trained voice and carefully crafted lyrics moving seamlessly between Spanish, Icelandic, and English, with a sound influenced by the ethereal touch of Iceland and traditional Mexican music.

Andervel has performed at leading venues and festivals across Iceland, most recently appearing on the official line-up of Iceland Airwaves 2025. Internationally, he has toured the Faroe Islands (2021) and participated in cultural events and showcases in Denmark, Estonia, Oslo, Canada, and Austria.

Andervel is set to release a new album in May 2026, accompanied by an ambitious UK-focused marketing campaign. Supported by the Icelandic Music Center, the record is a folk-leaning, multilingual release and represents his most fully realised and culturally interwoven work to date.
